I joined Synergy nearly six months ago after “persistent suggestions” from my wife to do so; my wife has been a faithful member of Synergy now for well over one and half years. She loves going to Synergy and thought the experience would be good for me. I hate to admit it in writing, but she was right.

When I joined Synergy I was overweight, stressed and out-of-shape (to put it mildly). I had never really formally worked out before and had no idea where to even begin. I had tried going to gyms in the past, but without the knowledge of what to do there, I never got into the hang of it and often found many excuses to bail out. There was no one to hold me accountable, no one to assess my needs and help shape my goals, and certainly no one to teach me the valuable skills I needed to know in order to have an efficient, effective and fulfilling workout.

Synergy provides an environment where someone like me can thrive. It is a judgment-free facility where both men and women can feel comfortable working out no matter the age, gender, size/shape and skill of an individual. The small group classes allow the trainers to really focus in on everyone’s needs. In fact, it is not unusual for exercises to be modified for those that need it. The classes are challenging, but the time flies by. The mixture of cardio and strength training keeps things interesting while not overdoing it.

What really makes Synergy standout are the people. Brad is a terrific spokesman for the product and really cares about his members. While I know Cynthia is a great trainer, I have primarily worked with Jim and Sean – both of whom are amazing.

30 Pounds GONE!!!

In January of 2016 I made the decision to finally start to prioritize my needs and my health. I started my path to better health by cutting out excess sugar and alcohol (2 things that were holding me back from losing excess weight). In addition to changing my eating habits I committed to going to Synergy at least 3 times per week and really working my hardest to burn fat and increase muscle. I noticed that with just the diet I was losing weight, but it was the workouts at Synergy that began to transform my body composition overall!

I live a very busy lifestyle and have always found it hard to get motivated to go to the gym at the end of a long work day. In the past I have become bored with gyms and workout classes and would ultimately give up on going after a few months using “I am too tired after work” as an excuse. What I love about Synergy is that the workouts are different every day and the trainers know me and my fitness level enough to continue to challenge me as I get stronger and stronger. Instead of dreading going to the gym these days I actually look forward to it! The environment is relaxed and at the same time very motivating and positive.

After 4 months of focusing on my diet and consistently working out at Synergy I have reached my first weight loss goal of 30 pounds gone! Thank you Brad, Cynthia, Sean, Jim and Jackie!

I Hated My Body

Synergy is amazing! Four months ago I remember sitting down with Brad and having “real talk”. I was heavy, an ex athlete with ulcers and unmanageable stress. I hated my body. The inabilities I was beginning to face with excess weight was starting to impact my job, relationships and self worth. Brad was compassionate, and reassuring. He helped me realize that this could be temporary thoughts and not an inevitable future.
Synergy is no nonsense, and the results are amazing. I began at Synergy unable to do even one push up! In just four months I’m already a different person. The ulcers went away and I discovered a love for running and healthy eating I never had before.

I’m already down over twenty pounds! I think differently, eat differently, and have recreated the relationship I have with food. I could NOT have done it without the Synergy team. Every workout I leave learning something new about my body. Whether it’s something about my endurance, my strength, or my athletic identity. If you have doubts about signing up, don’t. I came up with a lot of excuses

I drove by Synergy for about two years, admiring the big before and after pictures of the people in the windows who’d clearly changed their lives and their bodies for the better. But I couldn’t quite picture myself as one of them. I came up with a lot of excuses, like my work and kids, for not trying to either.
One day, I finally admitted to myself I wasn’t ever going to be able to reclaim my identity as a once-fit person without being willing to get started again. I knew myself well enough to know that I would need some outside help to stay accountable, to figure out how to exercise effectively and intensively but in low-impact ways, and to stay focused on long-term results, and not get frustrated by setbacks. So I finally took the mental leap of faith and signed up.
A year later, I’m proud of myself for working through that fear and making good progress towards rebecoming the fit person that I want to be. I can see good changes in my physique, and in how my clothes fit. I’m stronger and my agility is improving. And while I try not to get too hung up on what the scale says, that number is heading in the right direction too.
What has really worked for me at Synergy versus other places is having caring personal trainers who not only know me by name but know exactly how to challenge me in ways that work with both my competitive nature and my wonky knees. I appreciate how they come up with mentally engaging workouts and interesting fitness challenges, and how they don’t let me get away with bad form or being a space cadet during my workouts.

Trainers are professional and motivating

I have been a member at Synergy for the last 7 months and am so happy I joined after my first meeting with Brad. I knew I needed something different to make working out become part of my weekly habit and I’m happy to say that Synergy checks all the boxes. Since joining, I have lost about 20 pounds and have completely changed my body composition. I have a lot more energy, reduced stress and have much more restful sleep. Everyone at Synergy is friendly and welcoming; I now look forward to working out three times a week! The online scheduling is easy to navigate and keeps me accountable and motivated to make sure I don’t miss a class. The trainers are professional and motivating; they provide lots of variety and pay attention to my personal needs which I have found extremely beneficial. The other gym members are friendly and supportive too which helps contribute to the overall great atmosphere at Synergy. I’m really happy I found Synergy and highly recommend it to anyone!

No More gyms that don’t care about me

After years of yoyo dieting and being known in every Weight Watchers from Waltham to Worcester. Joining Big box gyms, Women’s Only gyms only to be left alone, unmotivated with no idea what to do. Driving by this small corner gym many times I noticed a big sign advertising a Biggest Loser challenge. I went in and met Brad. His big smile and passion for fitness was a deal breaker. That was the day my life and health turned around. Telling Brad about my unmotivated ways he encouraged me to not only join but participate in the Challenge. In my normal fashion I went out and bought workout outfits for each day. I was going to look good. While deciding what outfit to wear I realized this is not about fashion this was my chance to really improve myself. No I didn’t win the challenge but I did win strength, confidence all in the same workout clothes.
In 11 weeks Synergy helped me lose 14 pds, 3.5 inches off my waist and lowered my BMI. I have seen parts of my anatomy I haven’t seen in years and I’m not talking feet. The staff are great and the all the clients are supportive.
Besides working hard, learning about nutrition , we laugh, sing and I occasionally dance to celebrate feeling good.
No more dieting. No more gyms that don’t care about me. I finally found something that works… Synergy!!!

People get well here

This is the best place you can go to get yourself back in shape! I’ve always been a person that makes a commitment to stay in some kind of decent shape. When I moved to Boston last year to start my Chiropractic practice I didn’t realize that focusing so much on taking care of other people would leave me not taking care of myself. So an extra 10% body fat and about 20 pounds later I started at Synergy with their 6 week jump start program. I noticed results within just a couple of weeks and the gains just keep coming. Its where it all comes together

I recently retired from the human service field. After 39yrs of helping others achieve their goals I realized that it was my turn to do something for myself. I drove by Synergy many times and wondered what it was all about. Then one day I saw the Biggest Loser sign and for some reason that lead me to the front door. I met Brad and was so impressed with his enthusiasm and his interest in me that I joined that day. It’s been 11 weeks and in that time I have gained strength, confidence, increased my endurance and lost 14lbs. I’ve lost 3.5 inches on my waist and gained a new found respect for my body. Everyone at Synergy from the other clients to the incredible staff have given me so much support and encouragement that it has changed my life.

I don’t miss the 6.5 inches of BELLY FAT

When I first signed up at Synergy it took me six months to actually get a work out in. I made every excuse I could think of to stay away. Now, I just completed a 2 month challenge where I lost 33 pounds and 12.94% of my body fat. I feel great and I don’t miss the 6.5 inches of belly fat that I no longer have to look at everyday. I have been trying to lose this weight for the better part of the last 7 plus years. I went to other gyms, hired one on one personal training, and I also tried many fad diets. Nothing seemed to work for me until I started up at Synergy. The trainers are professional, knowledgeable, and personable. Jimmy and Sean both know how to keep you motivated and keep you coming in and Brad the owner is always checking in with you and providing support. I would also like to mention that the members are a huge part of what makes Synergy successful for me. Everyone is very supportive and caring. It is truly a great place to get into shape!

I finally lost that “Last Ten Pounds”

I’m delighted to say that I finally lost that “last ten pounds” with the help of Synergy. Through better eating choices and the fitness workouts, I’ve never felt healthier. I love the fact that I have to make an appointment (which guarantees that I won’t keep hitting the snooze button) and that the workouts are varied and challenging (which keeps things interesting and fun).
